What is Microfilm?

Microfilm is the most established and standardized method of archiving in the United States. Since the 1930’s , microfilm has revolutionized the way the world has archived their important documents. Current users of microfilm include: hospitals, doctors’ offices, legal firms, banks, libraries, museums, government agencies, publishers, etc. – and now you!

When you archive documents to microfilm – you not only have a copy of your important papers, you also have preserved their life – for microfilm when processed and stored properly, has a life expectancy up to 500 years!

We optically capture your document copies, reduced to 24 times their original size, on Kodak Imagelink HQ Microfilm. It is then processed - an original and an exact duplicate - resulting in your document images on microfilm. Most major libraries have microfilm reader/printers that will allow detailed inspection and copies of your duplicate microfilm.

It is now time for your original microfilm and history capsule to be conditioned. Our conditioning process involves using the official steps outlined in the ISO 5466-1992 and ANSI/NAPM IT9.11-1993 specifications. (Detailing proper procedures for long term microfilm storage). Microfilm must be conditioned for up to 336 hours in a tightly controlled environment.
